A Man's Best Friend

City Parks Foundation's Awesome Poster!

When you are adopted by a squirrel,
that's when you know for certain that you
are being blessed!

What a beautiful relationship... what if we could
 be that unconditionally loving with
the people in our lives?
I believe squirrels are here to show us
the Way of the Heart!

Watch the little girls in the following video...
little bodhisattvas that have come to
hold us in love!

Thanks to Karen Cromer Clark for being these little one's

There's Nothing Like Being a Squirrel!!!

Being a squirrel has it's perks...
To use the trees as your super highway....
To be lulled to sleep at night by the swaying of the top branches holding my nest...
      To play with abandon...
To never have the thought "I have so much to do"...
To have no fear of jumping to the next tree branch and to feel the breeze as I fly through the air...

Here's a beautiful video from my friends Ann and Greg in Oregon! Listen to Greg's awesome song as you feast your eyes on Ann's squirrel footage! What a wonderful tribute to squirrels!!!

And here are a couple more squirrel songs...
"Ode to be a Squirrel Again" and
"The Most Beautiful Squirrel in the World"
I sang to a Byron Katie audience in Ojai,Ca.

Once you have experienced
 the love of a squirrel,
you are never the same again!
You are then lovingly held in
the One Squirrel Heart!

The Tao of Squirrel

Watch Mr.Nut as he demonstrates
the way of play.

Remember, Mr.Nut is the reincarnation of the Taoist mystic Chuang-Tzu and recommends that people be more like squirrels. Here are the
Five Principles of the Tao of Squirrel
1.Play more.
2.Don't take life seriously.
3.Stop thinking so much.
4.Relax.
5.Have fun.

You could also call this the
Yoga of Rest or Squirrel Yoga.
Listen to Mr.Nut in this video:

People think that if they adopt the Tao of Squirrel
that their lives would become
a squirrel nest in a minute...
 However,
just the opposite is true!
Even the Buddha finally "woke up"
when he finally gave up all his strivings
and just sat under a tree!
Squirrel wisdom pre-dates all other wisdom!
It is the aware pure space of Squirreluminosity!
If you don't believe me, prove it to yourself...
be a squirrel for a day!

The New Bucky

The New Bucky in front of Yellow Cosmic Sun!

You might find this post a bit over the top, but at
Bucky's request, I have to share this information with the world. For those of you who know about the late Sri Buckyji, this will not surprise you in the least!

When Bucky crossed over on Christmas Eve, he flew straight back to the sun (which is described in the song "Squirrel Whisperer"). When he merged with the Sun, his energy got so big that he couldn't fit into one little squirrel body anymore!  So, being the limitless being that he is,
he came back to Earth as three squirrels at once! (At first I didn't quite get it, but Mr.Nut explained it to me.)

Bucky's love is too big for just one squirrel!
You see, last time around, Bucky and Pete were squirrel brothers and after Pete got released, Bucky wanted to join him outside.  However, on the first day Bucky was in the release cage, he hurt his face and injured his teeth. Then because he could no longer trim his own teeth, he was house bound... and that turned out to be a very good thing. In fact it was part of the  Great Squirrel Plan!

So when he went back to the Sun, he connected with the One Squirrel Heart and found out that he could do both!  By incarnating in three squirrel bodies, he could be released with his brother Sweet Pea and simultaneously stay inside the house as Mr.Nut!  I could hardly believe it at first, but now it makes perfect sense and most importantly, everyone is happy!

When humans listen to the wisdom
of the squirrels, these little beings of light
lead us back to peace!  It's time!

Satsang With Mr.Nut

Every once in a while, one has the honor and privilege of meeting someone truly great. It is by Grace that I have been sent an amazing soul...  Mr.Nut.

From the very beginning, Mr.Nut was different from his two brothers.  He carried himself with a quiet all-knowing energy.  Even when he was simply drinking his milk, he displayed peaceful wisdom. Here below watch Mr.Nut as he expounds on "SQUIRRELOVE":

I suspect that Mr.Nut is none other than the great Taoist mystic, Chuang-Tzu.
It was Chuang-Tzu that said,
"Easy is right. Begin right and you are easy.  Continue easy and you are right.
The right way to go easy
is to forget the right way
and forget that the going is easy."
Mr.Nut exemplifies this truth in everything he does.
He does not strive... he is simply always
perfectly where he is!

Baby Squirrels Teach Love

When I lost Bucky back on Christmas Eve, I didn't think I would be graced with the presence of another squirrel teacher so soon!  But as destiny would have it, I received three baby squirrel brothers in mid-February. A woman in north Austin found their nest on the ground with the orphans nearby.

WOW!  All I could say was WOW! I had the thought that maybe my true love Bucky returned in another squirrel body, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. I just took care of them and loved on them as any mama squirrel would and waited and watched...

I named them Bucky, Sweet Pea and Nutjoy (whose name evolved into Mr.Nut). Bucky was the runt and Mr.Nut seemed to be the all-wise sage (probably a reincarnation of Chuang-Tzu, the Taoist mystic).  Squirrel personalities develop in their own time so I am enjoying mothering these little beings anxiously waiting to see who they will become!

Bucky and Sweet Pea seem to be high energy beings, whereas Mr.Nut is very laid back and likes to just hang out. He seems to prefer being in his own space rather than playing with his brothers.  And for this reason, I eventually gave Mr.Nut a cage of his own and let Bucky and Sweet Pea share a different cage.  The other difference was that Mr.Nut often has a faraway look in his eyes, whereas his brothers are more grounded in real time.

One day, after feeding the buddies, they started sharing their squirrel wisdom and when Mr.Nut spoke about love, I realized that he was in fact my new teacher, and very obviously the ancient Taoist sage.

Stay tuned for more updates on these amazing little buddies! And when you are out and about living your life, take note of the little squirrels in your life and whisper a silent thanks for squirrelgrace!

Spontaneous Squirreluminosity

Is there anything more spontaneous than a baby squirrel playing with his squirrel brother?
If there is, I haven't found it yet!
Check out the vibrant squirreluminous energy
of these beautiful beings.
They know what it means to be "in the moment"!

They are so alive and spontaneous because they don't have any sense of self. Therefore, they have no thoughts such as,
"What will they think?"
"What if he doesn't like me jumping on him?"
"I have to look good ... she's putting it on YouTube."
No, these little guys are pure innocence...
just like we were as babies before we had words to label everything and divide up our reality!
Prior to thought, just...
bliss
spontaneity
paradise
love
peace
squirreluminosity!

But no worries! If you lose your spontaneity,
just stop for a moment.
Take a breath, stop thinking, and
let everything be as it is.
Just resting like this will bring you back
to your true essence....

LOVE!

Laws of Squirrelodynamics

Are you aware of the four major laws of squirrelodynamics?  I'm sure you will recall the first two from school...
         1.Energy cannot be destroyed.
2. Everything tends toward disorder.

But the 3rd and 4th laws were added in the last couple of years as telepathically communicated by the little squirrels!

The third law is: There is a nut for every squirrel and a squirrel for every nut!

And the fourth law is: There is nothing NOT included in Squirreluminosity!

 OK...  what exactly is Squirreluminosity?
Nirvana! Love! Bliss! Pure space! The All!
If you don't believe it,
just go to the park and look at the little squirrels!
Then give one a nut...

Feel the beingness of the little squirrel!  That's you!
That innocence and sweetness is who you are!  How can I say that? You're the one feeding the squirrel! It's all for you!
That's GRACE!.....
That's Squirreluminosity!

In Praise of Squirrel Mamas

This post is in honor of all the squirrel mamas on the planet!  I have so much respect for the incredible job they do!  To keep the babies, usually three or more, fed, warm, sheltered and nurtured is a tall order for any mom!
I am in awe of their perseverance, dedication, and just all around good common sense! It is one thing to take care of babies in a warm house... I imagine it is quite a challenge having to deal with rain, wind, temperature extremes, predators, cars, and other variables!

God Bless All Mama Squirrels!

At this time, I have the honor and privilege to care for three infant squirrels that were orphaned when their nest came down in north Austin last month. Keeping up with the feedings every 4-5 hours round the clock,  in addition to keeping them at just the right temperature, stimulating them to go to the bathroom, and cuddling them just like a squirrel mama would do is almost a full time job!

I am in awe and appreciation of nature's way of nurturing it's infants in the wild!  One thing I know for sure, I am hard pressed to do all that a mama squirrel does for her young!

Whether human or squirrel,
 it makes no difference...
 the bond between a
mother and her young is a powerful one. When my
    daughter was born over
29 years ago, I remember waking up in the middle of the night always just a few seconds before she did so I could  nurse her. It was like magic... we were so connected.  And now, when it's time to feed the baby squirrels in the wee hours, no matter how tired I am, I automatically wake up at exactly the right time to
feed them!  A mother's love never ends!
